VPlaces is a passion project with the goal of creating a retro chat service similar to Excite Virtual Places. While we do take heavy inspiration from older chat systems, our goal is not to try and copy any of those services verbatim. Instead, we will focus more on modernizing and improving on the core elements of those older chat systems before completely diverging down our own path to create something truly unique and interesting.
The developers and owners of VPlaces are Michael and Clown. We have been close friends for over two decades now after meeting each other in Excite Virtual Places. One of the main reasons why we enjoy working on this chat service in our free time is because we miss those days and this is our way of revisting the past. Unfortunately, regardless of our passion for the project, we only have a limited amount of time to work on it each week. This means that the development of new features might be on the slower side, but we will eventually get it all done.
VPlaces will always remain a free service, but we will eventually introduce our own virtual currency that people can purchase with real money. Our shop will allow you to purchase custom titles, extra usernames, premium themes, and things of that nature. Purchasing this currency is completely optional and absolutely not required to use the service and all of its core features. Additionally, we plan on making the currency tradable as well as giving some away for free during weekly events. This means that anyone can slowly accumulate currency and purchase items from the shop without spending a penny.
